María Celeste Arrarás, a former Univision anchor and one of the first journalists to initially break the news of Selena's death, thinks that there's more to the story, and she says as much in her book Selena's Secret: The Revealing Story Behind Her Tragic Death, alluding to signs that Selena was having an affair and that she was growing increasingly unhappy with her career due to pressure from her father.Īlthough Celeste Arrarás's book isn't new, it's being re-released for the 20th anniversary of Selena's death. However, not everyone believes the events of her death happened as reported. She was convicted and is serving a life sentence at Mountain View Unit in Gatesville, Texas. Saldivar, who had been the former president of Selena's fan club as well as manager of one of her clothing boutiques, surrendered and confessed after keeping the police at bay for 10 hours with a gun held to her temple. When Selena was killed at a hotel on March 31, 1995, days before her 24th birthday, Yolanda Saldivar was arrested for the crime. ![]()
